Our salt cavern gas storage project at Islandmagee in County Antrim, Northern Ireland is a pioneering low cost fast cycle facility providing safe, secure and flexible gas storage that will serve the island of Ireland and mainland UK.
Islandmagee Energy Limited (IMEL) was granted planning permission for the above ground facilities for a natural gas storage facility at Islandmagee, Co Antrim, in October 2012
IMEL plans to create seven caverns, capable of storing up to a total of up to 500 million cubic metres of gas in Permian salt beds approximately 1,500 metres below Larne Lough. IMEL is a Northern Ireland registered company and a wholly owned subsidiary of InfraStrata plc.
Islandmagee Energy had a long planned public consultation event scheduled for 18th March 2020. The safety and wellbeing of the Islandmagee community, our contractors and our staff are of upmost importance to us.
Given the evolving COVID-19 situation, we have listened to the advice from government and have made the decision, in conjunction with DAERA, to cancel this planned consultation.
In the meantime, prior to the closure of the consultation on the 27th March 2020 at 17.00hrs, members of the public who require any further information are welcome to contact the company directly on firstname.lastname@example.org or DAERA on email@example.com
